Join us for weekly progressive Salsa, Bachata, and Kizomba classes every Monday and Wednesday at the Rotary Centre for the Arts. Our progressive format builds week to week, helping you improve steadily through technique, timing, partner connection, and musicality. Come solo or with friends, meet great people, and learn skills you can use right away on the social dance floor.
Salsa is fast, vibrant, and full of energy, with footwork, turns, and playful partnerwork set to lively Latin rhythms. It draws from Caribbean and Latin influences, with roots in Cuba’s son and mambo traditions, and was later shaped through the New York music and dance scene in the 1960s and 70s. You’ll learn timing, core steps, and clean partner connection so you can dance with confidence.
Bachata is smooth, expressive, and easy to love, known for its simple rhythm and strong connection. It originated in the Dominican Republic and grew from guitar-driven street music into a popular social dance worldwide. We’ll focus on solid basics, technique, and comfortable partnerwork, then add turns and musical details that make it feel natural and fun.
Kizomba is grounded, elegant, and deeply connected, with a relaxed, musical feel. It originated in Angola and spread through Portuguese-speaking communities before becoming popular around the world. Often described as a walking dance, it emphasizes posture, balance, and subtle lead-and-follow. You’ll learn fundamentals that make your dancing smooth, clear, and comfortable with any partner.
